Homeopathy a safe and effective way to treat the whole person. It is based on the Law of Similars, a natural law put into written form during the time of Hippocrates, 400 years before Christ. The practice of Homeopathy was brought to humanity by a brilliant German doctor, Samuel Hahnemann. He spoke 9 languages and was a language professor in his mid-twenties. Doctor Samuel Hahnemann was a respected chemist and pharmacist of his day. His book, Apothekerlexikon, was the most esteemed German textbook for apothecaries. In 1796, he brought before the public his research with the experiments with Peruvian chichona bark (China Officinalis) and his understanding of the foundational principle of homeopathy: like cures like. He shared his findings with his publication of Essay on a New Principle for Ascertaining the Curative Power of Drugs. In 1807, Hahnemann coined the word, Homeopathy, in his essay: Indications of the Homeopathic Employment of Medicines in Ordinary Practice.
As a man, Samuel Hahnemann is to be emulated! He was so highly respected as a physician of his time that German royalty welcomed his care. His medical advice include healthy lifestyle recommendations: stay in balance with nature, eat a healthy diet. drink water, exercise daily, enjoy the great outdoors. He was also a public health advocate and encouraged cleanliness to help calm the outbreak of diseases. In 1972, Dr. Hahnemann was recognized by a medical historian, Arthur J. Rothstein, for his kindness and keen awarenss of mental and emotional health which promoted true caring for institutionalized patients. He and his wife, Johanna, also had 11 children.
